Iris Diagnostics, a division of IRIS International, Inc., manufactures and sells urinalysis systems for use in hospitals and commercial laboratories worldwide. These systems perform both chemistry and microscopic analyses. Iris Diagnostics' automated systems are designed for workloads ranging from the largest hospitals to smaller laboratories and process anywhere from a few specimens to hundreds of specimens per day. Iris Diagnostics' systems are designed to provide users faster and more complete results, plus labor savings over manual methods of performing microscopy, one of the most labor intensive procedures in a clinical laboratory. Iris Diagnostics' in-vitro diagnostic (IVD) imaging systems are based on patented and proprietary automated intelligent microscopy (AIM) technology for automating microscopic procedures performed in clinical laboratories. AIM combines Iris Diagnostics' capabilities in automated specimen presentation, high-speed digital processing hardware and software to classify and present images of microscopic particles in easy-to-view displays. Iris Diagnostics has created a family of automated microscopy systems. There are more than 450 such systems installed worldwide. The company's newest product is the iQ®200 Automated Urine Microscopy Analyzer, which is a user-friendly, bench top, fully automated analyzer that performs microscopy on unspun specimens; simply load, press START and walk away. The iQ200 uses Auto-Particle Recognition (APR™) to identify and quantitate twelve formed elements. Results can be auto-released based on user-defined criteria. Images, not scattergrams, may be viewed on demand at the workstation monitor, dramatically reducing the need for manual microscopy. In addition, certain classes of particles may be sub-classified, if desired. Iris Diagnostics also offers the iQ200 Automated Urinalysis System, which incorporates the iQ200 Automated Urine Microscopy Analyzer and the AUTION MAX™ AX-4280 Automated Urine Chemistry Analyzer for labs seeking a complete walk away solution to their urine chemistry and urine microscopy testing needs. The AX-4280 provides a 12-test profile including 9 chemistries, specific gravity by refractometer, color and clarity.
